Lyrics
“Shadows of Wounded Time” – Written by Esther Bertram – Performed by POST
Look in the shadows, there’s a piece of you to find somewhere
What did you borrow? To fill the space before?
Take it off the wrong way, you might find what you desire in there
What could your heart say, when you stop with all the noise
Hold it empty to let go, break it slowly to let it go
Can you see it’s left behind, it’s the shadow of wounded time there’s no way to press rewind
Take it all off in a fantasy, the world’s open what can you ever bear if you can never be free?
It’s time to pack your bag now, there’s a piece of you to find somewhere
What can break the sorrow, is the space you have before
Take it off the wrong way, you might find what you desire in there
What could your heart say, when you stop with all the noise?
The Story
Shadows of Wounded Time is about what remains after the past has done its work on us — the pieces we carry, the things we use to fill the spaces, and the parts of ourselves that can become difficult to hear beneath all the noise.
It sits somewhere between looking back and letting go. There’s no way to press rewind, but there may still be something waiting in the shadows — something worth finding before you pack your bag and move forward.
